BuJo Shop is open!

Hello! I have some exciting news – my Bujo Shop is open!

I love Bullet Journals and think they hold such potential for writers, so I decided to start designing and creating pages to help with plotting, planning, marketing and writing.

If you are interested, please have a look at my shop. All items are very reasonably priced ($). I currently have two for November, one A4 sized and A5 sized.

If you are as excited as I am about Bullet Journals, please sign up to my mailing list for monthly freebies and news. I’ve got such plans for December!

Please message me if you would like me to work on a commission for you and your Bullet Journal.

Birthday 2018

Today is my birthday! Something I haven’t shared on social media before, but with you I thought I would.

I thought it nice to reveal something about me every birthday, so you can get to know me a bit more. Maybe you could share something about you on your birthday? That way, I can get to know you too.

This year I’m going to share my favourite thing: blue skies.

My favourite colour is blue, in all its tones, and it featured heavily in my bedroom as a teenager (lemongrass walls and midnight blue ceiling, which I stuck glow-in-the-dark stars on in the shape the Altar star, Ara, the name of a cyborg from one of my first stories).

When I was at secondary school I dyed my hair blue with a temporary spray paint dye thing. I got told off by my teachers and laughed at by people in my school year, but I liked it. If I was an anime character, I would have blue hair.

I particularly love blue skies, and when I’m feeling down a blue sky always cheers me up. And gets me thinking. They’ve actually saved me too. When I lived in China I was very home sick and depressed but the need to see the blue skies of home got me through to my leaving date without giving up on life.

What’s your favourite colour and way?

15th August: Relaxation Day

Yay! It’s Relaxation Day! I have to say, I’m shocking at relaxing. I’ve never been good at it. There’s always something I feel I ought to be doing instead of relaxing, so I have to talk really hard to myself to sit and relax (Anyone else like this?)

When I do let myself relax I like to snuggle with a hot chocolate or coffee and a book (currently reading Games of Thrones and The Firemaker) or a film (my all time favourite being Studio Ghibli’s Laputa: Castle in the Sky). However, if I know I’ve got a lot of time on my hands, I then reach for my writing or my manga drawing. I’ve not drawn in years, so, being a perfectionist, I’m too scared to draw now (vicious circle). I shall get back into it though as I would love to feature some of my artwork in EvenStarr, a book that started life as a manga.

What do you like to do to unwind and relax?

Happy Relaxation Day!

What am I doing now?

There are two weeks left until the end of the academic year here in the UK so I’m currently struggling through tests and marking. I’m really looking forward to using naptimes on my author work rather than marking and planning.

My plans for the summer are:

  1. Edit my first draft to send to my editors.
  2. Organise my author website.
  3. Find a designer for my front cover.
  4. Finish a gift for any who sign up to my mailing list.
  5. Learn how to format properly
  6. Start plotting Book 2…

I think that should keep me out of mischief! *^_^*

A writer’s life ruled by naptimes

As a very lucky mother to a young toddler, I don’t get much free time for my writing (Yes, I could wake early but I’m so shattered from teething that that’s currently impossible). So my writing time is restricted to naptimes, unless that naptime is needed to do planning for my lessons.

So, yesterday I had a clear naptime and had got my laptop out to start writing when my neighbour comes round for a chat.

An hour’s chat!

I could have cried! I probably should have asked to get on with the work I was blatantly about to undergo, but I didn’t want to be rude. Then my toddler woke up and all hopes of writing were gone.

What would you have done?

Hopefully today will be more successful…
